I wish the Alinco DJ-580's had a mode to disable the PTT
on the unit while allowing PTT on the remote speaker mic.  
The PTT on the housing is very sensitive.  When my wife
tried to carry hers in her purse with the MFJ mini speaker
mic sticking out it would key-up too many times.  Locking
out and unlocking the PTT was too inconvenient.  

To make the rig less susceptible to unwanted key-ups, I 
opened the case and removed the rubber PTT button.  There 
are two projections on the inside of this button that press 
on the two switches.  What I did was shave these down about 
1/16th of an inch so as to increase the distance they must travel. 
This modification may reduce the life of that button but it
prevents unwanted transmitting.
