KPC2.5 KPC-2 MODIFICATION FOR KPC-1 Here is the modification KPC-1 owners have been looking for everywhere but cannot find anywhere. It is similar to the modification performed by the factory when you send your KPC-1 in for the firmware upgrade from a pre- 2.85 to a newer version. 1. Cut trace to pin 1 of U6. 2. Cut trace to pin 26 of U6. 3. Cut trace to pin 27 of U5. 4. Cut trace between pin 27 and pin 26 of U5 (On component side of PCB). 5. Cut trace to pin 27 of U4. 6. Cut off pin 12 of U3, between IC and PCB. 7. Cut trace to pin 23 of U1. 8. Install jumper from pin 1 of U6 to pin 27 of U5 to pin 27 of U4 to pin 23 of U1. 9. Install jumper from pin 26 of U6 to pin 26 of U5 to pin 26 of U4. 10. Install jumper from pin 3 to pin 14 of U3. 11. Install jumper from pin 11 of U3 to pad formerly connected to pin 12. 12. Install a 2.2K resistor from pin 5 of U7 to Q2 end of R14. 13. Replace U6 (HM6264P-15) with a D42832C-15, a 43256, or equivelant CMOS (32K x 8 Static RAM) device. 14. Now you can install your firmware upgrade chips and enjoy! This modification provided by Bob KB4IQM @ WB4MOZ.#WPBFL.FL.USA.NA
