From: KF2T@W0GVT The TS820(s) receiver stage may be significantly improved (especially) on 10 meters, by replacing Q2 and Q3 on the RF board with an NTE455, and NTE454, repectively. The board is easily accessible from the top of the '820 - remove the top cover, loosen the one retaining screw (located next to the PA cage), desolder the lead connecting the board to the PA, and also the capacitor connecting the board to the "drive" capacitor. The board lifts out easily. The two FETs pin-out the same way as the original equipment. Retune the receiver stage when complete. This mode provided an improvement of several S-units on 10 meters, somewhat less on the other bands. It's fast, it's easy...it works! 73, George, KF2T (@W0GVT.#NECO.CO.USA.NA)
