For your 89 SRI, you have a BE1/5 gearbox which has the reverse
collar lever. New BE3/5 was used progressively in late 1990 and all
year on 1991 and up. BE3 and BE1 is interchangable if you replace
the shift linkage rods (you might want to replace worn rods anyway)
and reverse lever and cable if you have late model and trying to fit
older type BE1 gearbox. So in your case, you can buy anything and
just buy the new rods if you want to fit later type box.
