Two comments:
1) my 405 rad had a small leak at the top too, and I fixed it "real
good" with some GM rad leak compound. It has the Bubba Bo-Dean seal
of upp-ruvel ;-) Seriously, this yellow powder crap worked quite
well and did not gum up the heater core unduly. The rad has not
weeped a tear for 2 years now.
2) any half-decent rad shop can take apart the aluminium/plastic
rads, fit new seals and re-crimp them. I had this done some years
ago in Abbotsford, BC (small town) and the repair was PERFECT. It
cost about $50 CDN at the time...
