Hello, list, a few of you might remember me from the old list (Todd
Kelson). I had a 405 Mi 16 that I sold to my brother, who
unfortunately let it deteriorate... It's still around with about
90,000 Mi and hasnt run in 2 years, but was running fine until he
stopped using it. I am sure it is for sale, but you have to contact
him directly. email me if you want the info.
In any event, I am back, having purchased the 1968 404 Automatique
on ebay that was discussed on the list. I have a good friend in WA
State who is going to check it out further this weekend. The owner
is getting a replacement title before we can close the deal and
bring her home to New York. I bought vintage yellow on blue low
number NY plates, to give it that authentic feel. I will report
further on this new acquisition as info comes my way, and will try
to post photos if possible.
This car is a bit of a dream for me to get-- My dad had 2 peugeots-
a 1957 403 , and a 1967 404.
Although not discussed too often on the list I expect, I can give
you a first hand collision report, and tell you that a 1957 403 is
no match for the lincoln continental that t-boned us in 1966. It
hit the front driver door and Dad had a broken rib, but we all lived
to tell the tale:). That car was built like a tank.
When he junked the 403, he kept the hand crank, and bored a hole in
the bumper so he could crank the 404, which Jow Wagner knows by
that time no longer had a hole, although the engine could still
accomodate the crank.
The thing we all missed the most in our new 404 at the time was
that, unlike the 403, it longer had a country and city horn.
Feels good to be back
