Mr Walter Barton, Peugeot Club Member from the early 1980's in
Richmond, Virginia area, apparently selling out 404's...
I have met him and he is very nice indeed....
Perhaps the one person who had more 404's than me....
18 Peugeot 404's some good/some junk/some driver ready !!
Item number: 8010557006
from ebay:
Here Our Story: My grandfather bought a couple 404s (One to drive and
one for parts), and then my father bought one so they could help each
other out with parts and repairs. My father then acquired another one
for parts. When my grandfather died, my father ended up with his two.
As he got a reputation for being a "Peugeot man" people began
contacting him when they decided to get rid of theirs.
Long-story-short, he now has a warehouse with about 17 Peugeot 404s
ranging from 1960-69 (Note: parts are interchangeable on all these
years - that's one of the neat things about Peugeot). The picture
above is one of my grandfather's models that I restored 6 years ago
and still drive (This makes number 18). I will be selling mine too.
I also installed a custom 7 speaker sound system in this model (CD
player, tweeters, 6 1/2, 6x9, 12 inch MTX sub in built in box with
amp.) It is starting to show some rust bubbling in places, but its
base coat clear coat so repairs can be done easily.
I will admit, we have some sentimental attachment to the cars.
However, realistically, my father is getting some age on him. I will
never be able to store these cars the way he did, and without his
parts, I will have to stop driving mine. We are just now thinking
about getting rid of the cars, but we don't want to sell them to just
anyone. We are looking for a hard-core Peugeot enthusiast. There is
enough potential in these cars and parts to last someone a lifetime,
or more (Consider, they are already on their 3rd generation with me).
What we would really like is to find someone who would be eager to
buy the entire lot, including mine pictured. We are not trying to get
rich off of them, but we do expect a fair price. If you are trying to
get something for nothing, please don't waste our time; but if you are
truly excited about this rare opportunity, please contact us. I am
certain that my father has the larges collection of Peugeot's in this
country. Many of the cars will require very little to get them going.
Some of the cars are only good for junk parts. We also have some
parts that we have taken off of vehicles before we sent them to the
junk yard. A couple of the Peugeots are station-wagons. One Peugeot
is a Rare Custom Truck. They never sold a Puegeot truck in this
country. However, my father took a wrecked Datsun pickup and cut a
Peugeot in half and made a Peugeot truck. It actually looks a lot
like the factory jobs, and it was inspected by a police officer and
titled as a Peugeot Truck. My father still drives this truck every
day. The rest are 4-door sedans with sunroof. All have 4 cylinder
engines (20-30 miles to the gallon). We have both automatic and stick
shift models. Manuals have a 4 speed transmission on the column.
It is impossible for us to negotiate price until you really know what
all we have. Contact us and we will arrange time when you can come
visit my fathers warehouse. He lives in Sedley, VA 23878. My car is
in Richmond and I drive it regularly.
