Both Tom amd Bruce are right on the 404 wheels......

However, I forgot that at one time I was going to adapt American
Aluminum mags 14 inch 5.5 inches wide (from a Ford Tempo) to a 404.

I did call Stockton wheels (california) and actually sent them a 304
    wheel once for sizing....

They were to cut out the center of my 304 wheel,, and adapt anything
I wanted in steel,,(re-weld a new wheel) in the correct setback of any
wheel I wanted in size. They were 13 inch originals.

I then asked about the 404-- they said anything was possible... WHICH
led to the discussion of WHEEL ADAPTERS in an aluminum plate of 1 inch
thick, which would allow me to bolt in the original 3 lug plate, which
had the pattern of 4 lugs at the other end, and being 1 inch thick.

The Ford Tempo 7 spoke 14 inch mag wheels looked great and had a
terrific setback which would have compensated for the extra 1 inch
push outward, but.. with the mag put on,,, then all would end up being
the same geometry, but one heck of a better looking car wheel!!!!!

And,, the cost of the wheel adapters,, then was $80 for a set of 2
    (1992)

The mags came cheap $25 each, and 185x60x14 Tires are available used
    anywhere for $20 each

But like anything else,, the project got idled,, and it still sits
    with the best of intentions.

I have the wheels, tires,, but not ordered the wheel adapters yet.

I did talk to a few guys on ebay who make aluminum wheel adapters for
Japanese cars, and they can make just about anything for a reasonable
    price.
$150 for 2 adapters is not unreasonable these days.

I still have plans,, thought a bit late, but I still have the 404's
too. Dreams never die, sometimes they get hard to fulfill.

    Joe Wagner 6-404's yet.
