The gas tank comes out so easy, but the tube you describe is a bit of a pain, I just went through that exercise two days ago. You need to disconnect the upper end of the hose on the tail lite filler and maybe even pull off the light (mine was off) then you take out the rubber ring that the hose goes through on the trunk wall. Then you just wiggle it till it comes off, the little tube is just a little longer than one would think it needed to be, but it will work, barely. Oh, and the little tube goes between the two filler tubes when you put it back, not inside the inner one.
    Good luck.
Got any extra parts? Like a water pump?
