Make sure you remove the plug in the passenger side of the engine block to
drain every thing out, as well as the rad drain cock which tends to freeze
and rips out of the rad so be careful. The drain on the block is rearward
and hard to see. Sometimes it is plugged at the hole and will require a
screw driver to ream it out. Run lots of clean water through the system and
let it drain out. Replace drain cocks and fill with 50/50 anti freeze and
water (distilled only). When you think you have it filled, squeeze on the
upper rad hose, it should feel full and you should see the coolant level
rise and fall in the expansion tank. Continue to add coolant until the hose
feels full and the level never drops to below the lower tab on the expansion
tank. Drive around for a while to warm up , use your heater , park, let it
cool down and check levels again. Always squeeze upper rad hose as you can
occasionally be fooled by the levels. Squeezing gives you a fool proof means
of checking the coolant as well it helps discharge air bubbles into the
expansion tank.
