I am far from an expert on this stuff, but I suggest simply removing
the two wires that connect to the stop light switch and, making sure
that they are not touching each other, see if your brake lights go off.
Then you should make sure that with the brake in its resting position
that it does not touch or depress the plunger of the switch.
If the brake is not touching or depressing the plunger and if the
brake lights are on with the two wires connected to the switch and off
with them disconnected then I would guess that the brake light switch
is bad. Again, I am from the Fred Flintstone school of auto repair, so
I very well may be wrong.
