Does the hvac control work? this may sound stupid, but if you have a major
air leak, you'll have all sorts of problems ranging from high idle to uneven
running and low power. If the vacuum is weak, your hvac controls wont engage
(switch between feet vents and face vents for example).

Does it almost stalls if you try to press on the gas too fast in neutral?

Does it overheat? does the exhaust smell real bad? smoke? did it just stop
working one day, or was it progressive?

    Ciao,
    Francois

Apologies if this is a repeat of an earlier message; for some reason,Yahoo
did not appear to send the first one.In any event, I really need help with
what feels like a timingproblem with my XN6. I'm having a hard time finding
documentation that describes the ignition system in a waythat makes sense to
me, so any help would be very much appreciated. Also, as I'm unemployed
right now, taking the car to a mechanic is not an option.Basically, the car
feels like the timing is off below about 3000 rpm. At idle, the idle is
lumpy or slightly off-beat; either way, it may stall itself. From idle, I
have to keep therevs above 2500-3000 RPM as I let the clutch out or it may
stall, and power is noticeably weaker under 3000(again, it may stall, and
the engine is really struggling to keep on time).I reckon it's probably the
vacuum advance not kicking in as itshould, and I've checked the basics
(rotor arm, dist. cap, plugs, wires) and all seem OK.Does anyone have any
advice? I'm really screwed if my car isn'tworking right now.Thanks,-
    Cameron.
