'83 505 Turbo Diesel Transmission

I need help. I will be getting a used transmission from George at
Sunset Coachmen (Thank you, George!!) but my local tranny shop wants
$395.00 to switch out the transmission. I really don't have that
kind of extra money, particularly on an '83 with 210K. So, anybody
have any experience with pulling the transmission themselves. Things
to do, things not to do, helpful hints. Anything, let me know. This
group has been very helpful in the past. So respond to my e-mail
