I removed the lower glove box on my 2165cc LE Jetronic GTI estate car
(wagon!) cos I needed to check fittings with another vehicle. Drove the car
around a few days with the box removed and noticed a kind of "zzizzing" noise
coming from the area where the box should be. Puzzled, I listened with a
tube to my ear whilst pushing the throttle pedal with a stick (no zizz at
idle) and I'm 99.9% sure that the noise is coming from the Jetronic FI brain
itself. Maybe they all do that I thought - so off with the glove box on the
sister car - no noise at all. I've checked the mounting screws and the fit
of the multi-way plug into the brain but no change.
The car runs great so I'm not over-bothered but if this is a sign that the
