    I have the same question. I looked at the turbo diesel today and was not quite
    sure if it was the 2.3 or 2.5l version. How do you tell them apart. I know
    that the XD2S engines should have a stamp on the head. I didn't find one on
    this one.
    The previous owner thinks that it is a 2.5l. It is out of a 1985 505. Would
    that be the XD3T engine?
    It looks very similar to my engine (XD2) the only difference that I could see
    is the valve cover. Instead of having a fairly uniform shape like the XD2 it
    had sort of indented corners. I'm not sure if that is of any importance.

    This engine came with an automatic transmission. The guy thinks that the fly
    wheel is mounted with 7 bolts. Can that be true? Maybe he means 8. Anyway my
