    All:

My Peugeot failed me today, and I had to get it towed (the second
time it's been towed this year). I heard a loud repetitive clack-
clack noise from somewhere from inside the dashboard or maybe just on
the other side of the firewall. I surmised that it had something to
do with the ABS system; then the STOP light on the dash lit up; the
temperature guage shot up to the red; but the ABS and brake warning
light didn't come on (simply because they don't work). Is there
something under the dash or close to the firewall that is ABS related
and that makes a clicking noise and could make a loud clacking noise
if something goes wrong? (If its going to be the ABS pump, I'm not
going to be happy. Had a new one installed four years ago.)

This is the day when my new transmission ($550 from Dunbarr) arrived.
Between it and the breakdown, my wife looked at me sternly and said
"you are going to sell the Peugeot." $2,500 in repairs and parts so
    far this year.
