505 outer tie rod end removal.

I am having trouble unscrewing the lock nut on the outer tie rod end
from a spare rack that I have. My diesel wagon needs an outer tierod
end and this spare has two attached to it in very good condition.
trouble is i can't seem to undo the lock nut. is it clockwise to unlock?
or anticlockwise? once the lock nut loosens how hard is it to unscrew
the tierod end itself? thanks
