I'm installing a transmission temp sensor in my 91 SW8 ZDJL/4HP22. I
was thinking that the simplest would be to put a T fitting in the
trans-to-radiator line, but I've heard that putting the sensor in the
pan will yeild much more accurate readings as the oil temp in the
output to cooler hose varies with torque converter action. True?
The sensor is made by AutoMeter and has 1/8" NPT threads, is 1/4" in
diamter and extends about 3/4" from the threads.
-How hard is it to drop the transmsisson oil pan?
-How much clearance is there between the valve body and the bottom of
the pan?
-Can i just drill a hole into the pan, and "bolt" the sensor righ in?
Has anyone done this before?
Thanks,
Aaron
