    Sometimes that low-budget flex pipe can develop leaks fairly soon, so
    it is best to use custom fit piping. But, you can use your existing
    piping as a template for bending the new pipe. For long life, use a
    stainless steel or atleast some aluminized steel (like OE).

    The ZDJL is boomy, but seems to be just fine without the front stub
    resonator. In fact, interior noise will be reduced, and the sound
    from the tailpipe will gain a more "sporty" tone without getting
    louder. The stub resonator is secured to the floorpan and is not well
    isolated (just a tiny rubber mount)--some vibration is transmitted to
    the passenger compartment.

    Since the ZDJL is a tad boomy, and since it does not have a
    turbocharger there to kill a lot of noise, I'd give some Walker
    QuietFlow mufflers a try. They are designed to be low-restriction/low-
    turbulence, but still have a lot sound control. Some exhaust noise
    will be there, but not as loud as a "performance" muffler. Plus, you
    want *some* backpressure for that naturally aspirated engine in order
    to maintain exhaust velocity/scavanging. Also, don't change the pipe
    diameter--bigger is not better (and neither is smaller).
