I'm curious - I've only ever seen 88+ 505's as Turbo or V6's - do the regular "lesser" models retain the old 1 pc strut? I just assumed it was a change across the board for the 88+ cars and they all had the updated 2pc suspension.

FWIW - my 88' parts car was a GLX - so a base model V6 with no ABS, but it had the new suspension

The later 505 V6 and turbo models have different front suspension setup
(possibly only those with ABS, but could be all V6 and turbo models) and
take the longer tierod but the other 'lesser' variants still have the normal
    suspension with the shorter tierod.

The inner ball is integral with the tie rod, it is pressed on. We did remove
one, the tie rod is pressed on to the shaft of the ball joint, and once you
    remove them they are stuffed.
