The plugged cat sounds plausible, also fuel pump output

Subject: Turbogas wagon puzzler
Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for suggestions re the almost-running-but not-quite-
problem w my 86 N9te wagon with the following symptoms:
Recently, the engine would start, but then die after 2-3 mins of
warmup. During warmup, it could not rev past 1500 rpm, then 1200, then
<1,000 [but microswitch on t/housing seems ok, clicks?].
This state then deteriorated further to where now, the engine just
acts like it might start [gives a few chuggs], but won't. I replaced
the fuel filter, engine temp sensor on the t/stat housing and airflow
meter, checked all vac lines/connectors and air intake boot for leaks.
Distributor and plugs/wires seem ok.
The O2- sensor was completely fouled-up w fresh black soot and
replaced w a known-good [used] one, but ofcourse the symptoms
remain the same ...
What's left? Faulty injection/ignition relais and/or ECUs... bad gas
in tank, plugged up cat, turbocharger not spinning freely?
Educated guesses or better will be greatly appreciated : ]
