Check the function of the auxilliary air valve, you should be able to
see thru it cold, but after supplying it with 12v for 5 minutes it
should close....this is the fast idle when hot control

Subject: Rough idle on start-up XN6

    Hi folks;

After many minor repairs and with advice from several generous folks on
this list, I finally have all the kinks worked out of another 1984 STI
which now replaces the one demolished a month ago. Thanks again to all
    who
    took the time to advise.

One last annoying little problem is that this one wants to die after
    cold
start-up for just a minute or two, then all is absolutely fine. I do not
think it is the cold start injector as the start up is instantaneous and
    a
continuity check of the injector is positive and there is voltage at the
lead when starting. It should not be a vacuum leak because operation is
perfect after that first minute or even sooner. Revving the engine
carefully seems to mitigate the problem and within 1 minute I'm ready to
go. So, I'm not sure what else to check for - any ideas? Thanks, Tom
    Woods
