I will take a stab at it- you might want to check the check valve
on the fuel pump. I have seen a couple of failures.

It's a ball and spring affair that comes out of the fuel pump
(Bosch), and it keeps the fuel rail pressurized. If there's moisture
in the fuel system, that moisture goes to the lowest point, hence
    corrosion and sticking.

It comes on a new pump, and I remember getting one from Sunset years
ago, separately, for about $20, but I don't have the part number. It
was a lot cheaper than a new pump.

I remember that on a new one, you could blow into one end with no
resistance, but not the other. Then, on the failure, it was the
complete opposite. I forget now which was which.

    FWIW.
