THe small boot has a metal lip...with a small screw driver, a small hammer and some prying you can work it off.
Then, with a small screw driver and a hammer you have to bend back the lock tab in the washer between the rod and the inner ball socket. Then I have a huge Channel Lock that I use to grab the steel around the inner ball socket and unscrew it.
The power piston is to be unbolted from the end of the steering rack and the boot muscled out and around the end.Sometimes the power piston cannot be slid off the bush.
The rack has to be moved out of the way some, these are 2 nasty bolts that are better loosend but not removed.
Even when everything goes well the job is still not cake.

It's time to stop and ask. The question
relates to the passenger side inner tie rod.
I have loosened the large rubber bellows that
protects the rack. How does the smaller rubber
that protects the inner tie rod ball and socket
get pushed aside? The power steering ram connects
to a metal band that is stopping me{I think} from
sliding this rubber out of the way.
While I've got you on the line...What is
the best handtool to undo the rod, if the correct
Pug tool is not owned by me?...vice grips?
merci d'avance,
Gil
