I usually went for a Mann filter when I was doing my own oil changes
on the TD; it's about double what a Fram costs. For the sake of my
peace of mind I'd rather fit what the OF manufacturer says will fit.

The spiel from Castrol is that the test required for CD certification
is no longer available from the API. They insist, however, that it
is perfectly safe to use and that no reformulation has taken place.
Expect the CD mark to disappear from all oils currently carrying it
as stock runs out. However, if *I* were using a synthetic I would
seriously consider Amsoil's 15w40 marine diesel oil, which is to my
knowledge the only oil available in North America that will meet or
exceed the highest European diesel standard (D5.) This is now
*required* in many European-market TDs.
Take care,
Chris
