Mike, I already have a spare alternator which needs to be rebuilt, but
thanks for the post. DId you end up replacing the noisy tensioner
adjustments pulleys yourself? what was the cost and time required?
Ned, I replaced the alternator om my brother in law's car, hence the
spare, and found it unbelieveable difficult to line up the upper
alternator bracket such that the lag pivot bolt would go all the way
through. It took me more than 1 1/2 hours and I one point I thought I was
going to give up. did you have this trouble? could you also describe the
replacement of the pulleys?
My brother in law just had most of the front rubber suspension bushings
replaced on his Mi 16 by our local dealer and it seems to have made a
world of difference. I am about to bring mine in and have them do the
same thing. I will post the results, description, and cost when it is
completed. The dealer is claiming to do many of these jobs lately.
My latest theory on how the water accumulated in the back foot well area
is that it came throught the sun roof and down the center door pillar.
The sun roof has four drain holes in each corner which have tubes
attached to them which brings the water through the sides of the trunk
and out the back. I think one or more of the drain holes is pugged, and
the heavy rain spilled over the side down the center pillar......I need
to investigate further.
I have a spare 405 Mi 16 starter motor (removed from my car) which I will
have rebuilt. I might keep it as a spare, but if anyone has an interest
in the starter, please let me know. New starters are $350+ from the
dealer, and $275+ from Lew Baille. a rebuilt starter with exchange is
$150., which is what I would be looking to get for mine w/out exchange.
