Another part of the problem for Peugeot in this market was the attitude
of Peugeot workers in France to Americans and their tastes. Workers
would sabotage cars on the assembly linedestined for N.America (505's
were occasionally being shipped with the steering wheels bolted upside down!)
I've lived in France and am very familiar with their snobbish attitude
towards American consumers. However, ifthey wish to succede in this or
any other market they have to accept people's different preferences.
I also believe that if it weren't for the present dodgey political
and economic situation in Quebec over the last 3 or 4 years they would
have opened u0pp or even bought out an existing factory (eg. Hyundai's
closed plant in Bromont which had assembled Sonata's). Quebec would be a
logical place for them to locate.

Just my 2 cents worth!

Uh, that should be "geography and population density." English
really *is* my first language!

Take care,
