no springs in turbo

Steve,

As I said to the Dutchman, my turbo rides like it has no springs. I don't
hardly know one model 505 from another but if yours has any sporting pretentions
it's probably got the same truck springs in it that mine has. I've contemplated
finding a similar non-turbo model and swapping springs, struts and shocks. I
think that's the only practical solution but I doubt I'll ever do it. I would
for sure if I lived some place where the roads were a lot worse than they are
here in the Dallas suburbs. The only time mine rides half way decently is when
I have a half ton load in it. I've done that a couple of times but then it can
hardly get out of its own way and the brakes are scary.

As for the turbo motor itself, I've had no problems with mine so far at almost
70,000 miles (knock on wood). But a guy I spoke with up in Vermont told me that
they all seem to crack heads. He seemed to think it was just a quirk of the
design or construction or something. I told him I had to floor mine to get it
moving. he discouraged me from that because he thought that doing so when they
were cold was what made the heads crack. I have no idea if this is accurate or
not but I'm sure he's right about a lot of heads going south. he dismantles
them. He ought to know. A local dismantler tells me similar stories. We may
have less of that problem here in TX because it doesn't get as cold as in VT.

Now if you really want to talk about what's the matter with these cars let's
talk about that God-awful ZF transmission. I dount they ever made a good one in
their entire history. And to think that Peugeot changed from GM THM to do
business with those guys. It proves they are crazy or dumb or both!

See ya. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
