Where does Eugene get off, implying that building cars in Canada would be
cheaper than building them in the States? I think this is the second time
he's said this.
The last I heard, GM, Ford, and Chrysler of Canada were all unionized with
the average hourly pay higher than in the US. Even the minimum wage in
Canada is higher than in the US. It has to be so that we can pay all these
damned taxes. The only benefit might be that the CDN dollar is worth about
$.72 US (on average) but I think this would be eroded away by higher labour
costs in Canada.
This is in contrast to some US-based manufacturers that are non-unionized.
I believe Saturn and US Toyota are two non-union shops.
