OK guys... I have a story to tell you. In November of last year my father
bought a 1984 Peugeot 505s. The car was maroon with tan interior and
automatic transmission and it only had 67,000 miles on it. Over all it was
in pretty good shape however after some time the car started bucking as if
it were running out of fuel. He had me look at it an I played and played.
Finally the car wouldn't run. I was going to school at the time in
another state and was only home for the weekends so he gave me a couple of
weekends to work on it. After about three weeks he had it towed to the
Volvo dealer and traded it in for a 91 240 ouch (trader)... I was always
upset about it because I have the persistence to get it fixed by I didn't
have much time to fix it.
The plot thickens: The other day I was in the junk yard and saw that same
car. It seams that someone had put some sealing compound on one of the
injectors and when that didn't work he gave up. Needless to say I asked
the junkyard owner if I could buy the car from him. The only problem was
that the wheels were missing. Upon inquiring what happened to them I found
that the man who junked the car wanted them back. Off I went to reclaim
the wheels that belonged to my beloved Peugeot. I arrived at the
wholesaler who bought the car from the Volvo dealer and he said that it
would be very hard to part with them. "They are my wheels," I said. "I
owned the car." (I felt like I was living Tom Cruses part in Risky
Business)
I got the wheels back with the tires for $100. I put them on the car with
the help of the fork life that the owner of the junkyard had and spent
three hours getting the numbers"B349" off of every body panel on the car.
(This was what the guy needed to find the only Peugeot in the junkyard?)
Well I am in the process of getting the title and getting the car back to
my house now.
Here is the problem. It still has the original problem. Let me explain
it. Lew this is one for you... The car will start for about three seconds
more if it is cold before finally dyeing. Then it won't start at all. The
little round metal thing is very hard to pull up when one attempts to
start the car. Is this normal. The car seams to be getting fuel to the
fuel distributor. Help I have a bet with my father that I can get the car
running. Winning it could buy the tires that I had to pay $100 for. I
really want to prove him wrong because then he will see how wonderful
Peugeot is and can feel really guilty for trading it in. :-) :-0 :-(
Thanks for any help.
