Last winter, I had my catalytic converter replaced at Midas after getting a
price of around $750 USD plus installation for a genuine replacement. The
cost at Midas was $200 USD including installation (and a lifetime
replacement warranty, if I remember right). The car has been running fine
ever since, although there is definitely a hot smell (and I can feel the
heat rising when I open the door) that I don't remember from before.
Actually, I hope that's from the converter, and not from something else. I
wonder if that lifetime warranty refers to my lifetime, the lifetime of the
car, or the lifetime of the catalytic converter.
