Most likely problems are: cracked cylinder head (look for radiator leaks
near upper hose, or a new radiator, recent history of coolant loss, bubbles
in water bottle), bad turbo wastegate controller allowing overboost (broken
pistons result if overboost injection cutout also fails--look for oily
engine, much puffing out oilfiller opening with cap off and engine running),
bad turbo, bad transmission, u-joint. But many other problems are possible.
The turbo(gas) is an expensive car to maintain, unless properly cared for
since new. The non-turbo 2.2 is much more reliable, but if you really want
the performance of the turbo, be prepared to pay for it, after the purchase.

The archinves should be full of this discussion.

Good luck.
