I have had a knock in the front suspension of my 89 Mi16 since I
bought it a couple months ago with 100,000 mi. Any kind of bump
or even acceleration or deceleration was enough to get it to knock.
I pulled the rubbers from the tops of the front struts of my parts car
as the dealer wanted an astronomical amount of money for the
parts kits which contain these rubbers. The used ones looked as bad
as the ones I wanted to replace so I took a sample to a rubber mount
maker here in Winnipeg he would make a mould for a few hundred and then
cast them or use the existing pieces of steel that sandwich this rubber
and bond in new rubber for $100 per. All still very expensive. So I
cut a 1.5" hole in a 5" circle of old inner tube and put it between the top of
the rubber and the top piece of steel in the strut assembly. THE NOISE
IS GONE and my BANK ACCT IS IN TACT.
The origional rubbers are made by KLEBER INDUSTRIE anybody who can put me on
to them will get hugs and kisses.
