505 S turbo...air filter

How does one clean the air filter in a 505 turbo (2.1L). The owners manual
says it can be cleaned but it doesn't say how. Would luke warm water do?
Also, I went looking for a new air filter the other day and I noticed all
the guides had filters for the 505 turbo diesel but not for the 2.1 turbo,
are not they the same? Napa said they could order me one ..for $16.00
bucks! That's when I decided to try to clean it. Can these things be mail
order from any other place for cheaper?
