Tamara. I have a solution to your extra key problem. Take both keys
to the local key making place. Have the key making person grind the
door key on one side, and the new ignition key on the other side. You
will then have one key for both locks. The only problem then will be
making sure you get the key in the right direction. I know the odds
should be 50/50, but it seems like I get it wrong every time.

its out...

thanks, Doug for the "extra arrow" reminder...

however, since the key would only go halfway into its channel, we couldn't
turn it...

I got really brave (o.k.... really desperate...) and called my local dealer....
(yes, guys, its true..they are very amused by my antics, and its for purely
sexist reasons... and I just took advantage of them...)

very bad form for a feminist....but they just didn't cover care and feeding
of peugeots in that "men are pigs" manual...
what can I say??

I actually got to talk to the service manager...and after apologizing all
over myself for abusing his good nature....

he advised that in such a circumstance as ours....

they would whip out the grinder and grind the brass ears off...

since we had another key cylinder in hand....

we ground them down (Gene did it, only because he got there first....)

we were both pretty annoyed by that point...

So.. we are guilty of ruining the chance of re-installation....

bad environmentalists....we're not gonna recycle that one...

so now, when I get really tired of my extra key, I'll switch the locks.....

so the score looks like this-

feminist movement- zero (perhaps negative 50 or so..)

environmental ethics- zero

but...but...the means justifies the end... right???

the lady and her french wonder are back on the road(and its not the side of
the road, either)

even if that extra key is a pain...

thanks, everyone!!!

sorry Bob!!!
