Sounds like you need some pistons. How much ridge is there at the top of
the bore? Probably it is enough that standard pistons would be a little loose.

Are there cracks in the head betwen the valves? Any erosion of the head
around the swirl chambers? How flat is the head, if there is no other damage?

A set of rings and a couple of used standard pistons would be under $150.
