The same problem happened to me and thanks to Brian Holm, a most
qualified and helpful Peugeot "Guru", I was able to reintroduce my key
long enough to drive until I change the lock. Here is a solution which
comes from an elaboration of what Brian told me to do:

1) flood your ignition switch with WD40.DO NOT HESITATE TO POUR.
2) Using a large paperclip, open one hand so it is long enough to reach
the bottom end of the switch, next to the "barrel" which is currently in
the "down" position. The"barrel" is the litlle piece which is supposed
to go down inside your key,in the rectangular hole.
3) Using a narrow pair of plyers, fold the tip of your paperclip about
1/16 to 1/8 of an inch.
4) inttroduce this device ,parallel to the "barrel" so the "hook" that
you have made with the paperclip is vertical, facing the roof of the car.
5)When you feel that you have reached the bottom of the ignition
switch,turn your paperclip clockwise,90 degrees.
6) pull gently until you feel that your "hook" catch the barrel.
7) Now armed with a Gallon of patience proceed operation 4) to 7) .It
works in more than 50% of the case.

I had this problem 2 weeks ago and I have been able to help 2 other
persons since!
