I had a car with regular oil that sludged up by 100k despite 3-5k oil
changes since new, so in my mind the extra cost for synthetic is cheap
insurance. Besides, if I keep to the 3k oil changes, I don't worry about
it if I'm 1 or 2k late. I'm using Castrol 5W-50, so viscosity concern is
a thing of the past. (I started the Pegeot with this at 105k, when I got
it.)
