86 505 STI 5-spd. 300,000+ km on odometer (I can't verify that this is
the actual total distance on the engine because I'm not the first owner,
and I bought the car from a dealer).

Just after buying the car about 2-1/2 years ago I had the engine flushed
and added Duralube with the next oil change. I run Castrol GTX 10w40 and
change oil pretty regularly at 5,000 km intervals or less.

The last time I checked (when the odo still worked) I was getting just
under 30 mp(imp)g on the highway. I think it worked out to about 29.7.
This was on the I-5 from Blaine to Puyallup and back to Blaine. This was
cruising at about 3,200 to 3,500 rpm. Bear in mind that this calculation
assumes that the odometer was accurate at the time. It is possible that
it was clicking off the kms faster than they were actually being
covered.

It has always been a disappointment to me that the 5th gear ratio is so
low, hence requiring 3,000+ revs at highway speed. My previous car (83
Camry) would do 75mph at about 2,700 rpm in 5th, while at the same time
giving 41 mp(imp)g.
