All this hopeful talk about Peugeot coming back to N. America brings to mind
something that's been puzzling me since I joined this list. I can understand
why you all would like a new Peugeot, I've enjoyed the hell out of my 3...
However, the reason I started driving them was the ridiculously low price
for a reasonably high-class car (the purchase prices for my 3 add up to
$1150), definitely a boon for someone who has in the past bought things like
$600 '66 catalinas, chevettes, and more escorts than i care to remember. What
puzzles me is this: If you guys all have the cash to spring for a new Peugeot
(must be nice, and i refuse to call them pugs, like the dog), why the hell
don't you buy new BMWs, Volvos and Mercedes, instead of going through all the
pain and suffering of tow trucks and desperate speculation on who Peugeot
might find to subsidize their return? I mean brand loyalty is one thing, but
one way loyalty doesn't work, and is a company that refuses to allow their
logo on a club t-shirt (what? Have our name actually out where the public can
see it?) worth supporting?
