The time has come for another post on my over heating engine (previous
subject title was overheating XU9J4). I took the car in to get "fixed"
(does this word exist in Peugeotian) and they found that the thermostat was
bent (having supposedly been taken out and tested by Taylors - a different
(ex)repairer) they also found a leaking water pump and a radiator with
about 40% flow. So I had the thermostat and waterpump replaced.
I also had a recore put in for the radiator and just to be sure I replaced
the radiator cap. I got the car back and it is still running just as hot.
What do I have to do to get this thing running cool? What could be the
problem now? Is maybe the head gasket gone? The change from running cool to
always running hot happened after getting the car back from a servicing ( I
wonder what they did) so it wasn't a gradual thing.
The latest mechanic thinks that the fans aren't cutting in when they should
however before the car started overheating it never got to the point where
it needed fans. But anyway, I know there was some discussion lately about
testing fans and all I need to do is disconnect the fans switch and they
should run at full speed. Where is this switch, is this the thermo switch
on the radiator or the other one (which I don't know where it is) Taylors
supposedly charged my for the thermo switch (at $112) but it apparently
doesn't look new.
Please help, I am running out of patience and more importantly money:(
