87/85 505 Wagon Parts Interchangable?

The 85 is a 2.0/3sp. The 87 is a 2.0/4sp. The 87 rear end, ujoints, and
trans is bad. I intend to part out the 87. The 85 needs speedo cable,
fuel sending unit ASAP. The fuel pump on the 85 is also humming. Are
these parts compatible?
1.If I have to pull the fuel tank to get to the sending unit should I
just switch tanks?
2.Are special tools required to pull speed cables? Can a novice change
cables?

I noticed at crusing speeds on interstate the 87 tach was at 3000rpm.
The 85 at crusing speed the tach is at 4000rpm is this normal?
