Here's what I know so far from talking on the phone and looking the car
over:
--One female Peugeot enthusiast owner, bought new in 1990.
-Just over 100,000 miles.
-San Francisco car now in New England
-no rust, no dents, no scratches ANYWHERE. Flawless vellunga (sp) red
paint redone professionally two years ago. Dk Gray leather interior is
perfect. The car truly looks new, and I looked at it all over.
-Four new Michelin tires on original alloys , new alignment.
-New calipers, rotors, and pads all around
-New outer cv joint and boot
-timing belt never broke, always replaced when dealer said to.
- A/C does not work. Computer for temp control just replaced but still
problem.
-clutch replaced twice: once at 40,000, once at 80,000 (is this normal??
or just a bad driver?)
-receipts for everything done since day 1.
-all fluids changed religiously.
I really liked the owner; she seemed extremely knowledgeable about the car
and all the money she's dumped into it. She bought a new car already,
saying she's finally tired of the little problems and upkeep of it.
She said I've been the only one that's called about it and she doesn't
really know what to charge for it. She suggested $3,500 and asked how I
felt about it. I said I'd have to drive it, but was thinking that it
sounded very fair. Is it? I don't know.
Sorry this is such a long-winded message, but this is a big deal to me!
So, overall, is an Mi16 with 100,000 miles worth $3,500 and can I expect
another 100,000 miles of fun from it with regular, intelligent,
preventative maintenance?
