When I bought the peug about 4 months ago to replace the '83 (RIP trany
broke). One of the things the guy told me is that when he and the
mechanics at the used car place he worked, replaced the trany about a
year and a half ago, they found the used trany they got had a longer
attachment to the drive train (?i think?) so they replaced that part with
one from the old trany.
Well, anyway, he thought the trany came from a wagon because of the
longer piece. He also thinks the gear rato was slightly different on the
new trany. He said that would probally explain why the speedometer is
wrong.
I'm no mechanic and I'm just starting to really learn about cars. So I
was just wondering if the trany is really the reason for the speedometer
problem. Would different gear ratios effect anything else? (i.e.
tachometer) Are there any bad side effects of having the wrong gear
ratios. Trany seems to work fine, except a little sluggish between 2nd
and 3rd.
Thank you, in advance, for any info. Sorry about the lengths of my
messages, I'm tryin to cut down.
