Folks,

I've recently purchased a 405 MI16x4 and would just like to comment /
collect reactions etc. ...

It was first registered in 1990 (probably 1989 model) in Switzerland
(home). It's the XU9J4Z engine complete with cat. (95 Unleaded only!)
and 4 wheel drive (seemingly uncommon outside Switzerland).

I think it's a wonderful car to drive and sticks to the road very well,
especially in bad weather and when venturing into the mountains (one of
the chief reasons for purchase).

But ...

At motorway speeds (between 120 and 140 Kph), the engine really intrudes
into the cockpit and at 120 kph is already passed 4000 RPM. In fact, if
I wanted to get anywhere at 140 or more, I may as well switch of the
4*15 watt stereo as I can't hear it anyway! Now, it's not that there
seems to be anything wrong with the engine; it goes very well and is in
tune (although little happens acceleration wise until the engine hits
3500 or 4000rpm - normal, I believe).

Has this always been a criticism of this model? Has anyone ever found a
sound proofing kit? Has anyone ever changed the final drive to keeps the
revs lower at higher speed?
