Motor mounts

I read Mike Taylor's advice to Gary re motor mounts on the MI16x4. I
am experiencing a vibration throughout my whole car when I accelerate
firmly in any gear. If I accelerate gently or cruise at a steady
speed, the viration does not exist. I do not think it is wheel
balance because the vibration is there when accelerating in 1st or 2nd gear.
The vibration is not a normal sympton of a bad right hand drive shaft
bearing but this could be the beginning. The tires are new MVX4's and
have had the balance checked twice. I have recently
had Peugeot sport springs installed on the front which has resulted
in a lower ride height by 20mm. Perhaps this adjustment has caused a
problem. The car has the original clutch and is obviously overdue for
replacement. However, clutches either work or slip so I cannot see
this being a problem. I have also noticed increased vibration at idle
sometimes. I have attributed this to the colder weather conditions
but I may be wrong. Do you think this could be motor mounts and if so
which one?
I used to have no catalytic converter on my car for a while, until a
used one came available. The empty canister caused the car to BOOM
between 3500 and 4500 rpm. After replacement, the noise was almost
gone. I would suggest Gary checks to see that the "cat" is intact and has
not had the core removed. (Peformance on the non "cat" car was noticeably
better by the way)
