I need to replace one of my front wheel hub bearings. I will probley do both
at the same time
due to the amount of miles on them. The question I have is has any of the
"backyard"
mechanics on this list replaced the bearings on the front wheel hubs? Unlike
the rear, the front
can be replaced, but it requires a high load press to get them back in. Has
anyone taken the
hubs to a service center to have the bearings removed and installed? The
reason I ask, some shop
will not replace bearings that are pressed in and not held in with a nut of
some kind. In this case
the bearings are held in with a clip. I assume that would be the same.
...Summary... Should I
attempt this myself or have at least the bearing removal/replacement done by a
shop? Any of
the professionals on this list care to comment? Thanks
