Speedo Cable

Speedo Cables on 505's come in a large variety of lengths! If you
did not get the correct length, it will crimp or stretch and then
bind and break. Yeah, the square drive on mine is messed up from
that (well, it came that way from the previous owner!). The drive
gizmo does come out, by the way, with the trans in situe in the
car. It just needs some gentle persuasion, and something to catch
the oil! Careful with that O-ring... dry transmissions are not
happy transmissions!
PS: re sliding roofs that don't: there's a push-pull cable run from
a motor in the trunk (left side). The clips get loose, the cable
gets dry, and the cable housing tends to break. (you can see that
by dropping the rear of the headliner) I've tried lots of work -
arounds, and found that a new cable assembly works best!
