Could you use the cruise control from a car? It should be available with all
of the fittings for the Peugeot, or you could just buy a universal one.
Their input is usually from a magnetic pickup on the driveshaft (in the case
of Peugeot, the rear axle). The magnet is glued to the driveshaft, and the
pickup coil positioned nearby. As I recall, universal cruise controls are
relatively inexpensive.
