HI Robert,from outside the car, the locking mechanism is above and to
the right of the door handle on the driver side, ( above left on
passenger side) for both front and rear doors. You can spray into it from
the door handle by lifting the handle and spraying up and right (or
left). While the mechanism faces inside, you'll still lubricate part of
it from the handle. I haven't tried spraying from the window opening, but
I think there is a quarter window in the rear door of the 405 that
doesn't go down which prevents you from spratying the area where the
mechanism is. You could probably spray the front door mechanisms from
the window opening.
It would probably be most effective to remove the door panel and spray
directly on the mechanism, but I don't think it is neccessary. After you
spray, work the lock a few times and it should free up.
I prefer white lithium spray grease to WD-40 becasue WD-40 dries out more
quickly.
